What Would You Tell Yourself? by Ella Andreasen

Have you ever thought about what you would tell yourself if you could go back in time? The Charger decided to ask the seniors what advice they would give to their freshman-self. Freshman, listen up! You might be able to learn something from the people that are wiser than you.

  • “Invest in some candy”
  •  “DON’T DATE!!”
  • “Shut up and get to work.”
  •  “If Mariah asks you to run to class with her just say no!”
  • “Talk to Chrissy Biendenbender more.”
  • “Study more.”
  • “Buy a river boat with Tyler Mielke.”
  • “Don’t date! Boys are stupid and they will ruin your life! Instead, spend time with your friends every chance that you get. Be nice to everyone because you never know what people are going through.”
  • “Don’t be afraid of the moon.”
  •  “I would tell myself to fly away.”
  • “Do not sit on the back of the bus!”
  • “GO FOR IT!”
  • “Make a time machine in your closet.”
  • “Get sleep while you can!!!”
  • “Do more math.”
  • “Beware of the leopard.”
  • “You don’t know what you are talking about.”
  • “Hang in there.”
  • “Don’t look so pathetic.”
  • “Be confident! Don’t worry about what others think of you. Just do your best and be content.”
  •  “Don’t dump your first boyfriend; you’ll fall in love with him soon!”
  • “Friends are temporary; make sure you find good ones for the next 3 years.”
  •  “Buy a straightener and some make-up then USE IT!”
  • “Be more outgoing!”
  • “Make friends with other freshman, not the sophomores!”
  • “Don’t think about boys and study!”
  • “Make more friends, don’t go boy crazy.”

So now you know what advice seniors would give to freshman. I think even if the seniors could go back in time to tell themselves this great advice they probably wouldn’t take it, and they’d end up repeating the same mistakes all over again. That’s life. The events that happen in high school, both good and bad, make you the person that you were ultimately meant to be. God is in control and we know that everything happens for a reason.
