Greetings and Salutations! Recently I was approached by an underclassman, who asked as to what exactly the whole "Cow in the Swamp" legend was about. As a registered Chargerstorian, I went to work and discovered this gem from the past. After Charger-Dating it, I've discovered that this legend is actually over 1,300 years old, putting it up there as one of the oldest MVL Legends that we know of. Please enjoy this piece of MVL History!
The Cow of The Swamp
Perhaps you have heard the legend before
Of a Cow that dwells in our swamp.
But how did it get there? Where is it from?
That's what we shall explore.
It happened many a year ago, I'd like to say at least Four
When the swamp was actually a Pond.
The water was clear, the bottom was blue,
(of course, this was before it got its brown hue)
And within it dwelled one single fish.
Its name was the Wek and it protected the forest,
From Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, And Seniors.
However there came a time long ago,
When students wanted to give the pond a go.
They rummaged for strings, they rummaged for sticks,
they rummaged for worms, and beetles, and ticks.
And with them together they made a long pole
With which they could catch the big Fish of Ole'
They cast out its line, they tried to reel in
But the smart old fish Wek had a mighty fin.
He broke every line, he snapped every pole
He ate every bait that they gave him whole.
However there was De, a smart young lad,
who had an idea that wasn't half bad.
He went to his herd of 20 Cows A La Beef
Grabbed one by the shoulders and gave it a Heave.
It flew from the pasture, and into the pond.
And landed not only on Wek, but beyond!
The Cow hit the bottom, with a mighty boom
And it kicked up the dirt, sealing its doom!
So the pond became a Swamp, from all of that dirt,
And in it lies Wek and the cow, in their tomb.
As for De, he received quite a prize
They gave him a new name to have till he dies.
With the name of the Wek combined with his own,
His title was left as inscription, wrote on a stone.
"Here lies the one who gave Wek a murder,
Here lies great Dewek, the cattle herder."
