Coach Vs Cancer 2020

As you may know, the past few years the basketball team has participated in a Coach Vs Cancer game, where every year the boys basketball teams fundraise money towards a specific type of cancer, the basketball team does all sorts of things such as get pledges for each free throw they make or get flat donations. MVL does other things such as sell cancer cards, where you can write a name of a loved one who has been affected by cancer and hang it on the wall in the gymnasium.

This year the basketball team decided to put our donations towards Leukemia research. One big reason for this is one of our long time referees Justin Kaus, he was affected last year by Leukemia and had to stop refereeing for awhile until he came back this year and was able to ref our basketball games again.

On Thursday the boys played at home vs Sleepy Eye public, both teams wore orange that game, as that is the color that represents Leukemia.  The Varsity boys had a great game, dominating all the way through and even got the whole team involved. The final score was 89-35 a big MVL win on a special night. Mason Cox lead the team with 26 points followed by Jace Marotz with 18 points.

The MVL community raised over 7,000$ to help go toward finding a cure! Thanks to everyone who came to support not only your MVL chargers, but supporting an even bigger cause of fighting cancer.
