The Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) has been receiving backlash from parents and schools around the state because it is one of the only leagues in the Midwest not allowing football and volleyball to be played. Today, the MSHSL decided to hold a meeting to discuss and vote on whether or not to move these sports back to fall. The board decided on the following:

Volleyball

Starting on September 28th, teams will have 10 preseason practices. The first games will be held on October 8th, and the season will be 11 weeks long. As of now, fans are allowed to be present at the games, according to the Minnesota Department of Health COVID-19 guidelines.

Football

Teams will be able to begin practices September 28th. Games will begin on October 9th-10th. Football will play a six-game regular season followed by a two week postseason. The format is still being planned out. As of now, the Minnesota Department of Health COVID-19 guidelines state that 250 fans are able to attend outdoor sporting events.
