In Case of a Dragon Attack

Article by Camille Bauer

In the event of a dragon attacking the school, please remember these important procedures so everyone can remain safe in such a dangerous and sometimes unpredictable situation.

1. Calmly leave the school through the designated exits, preferably in straight, orderly lines.

2. Try not to panic. Although it is not scientifically proven, it is thought that dragons can smell fear.

3. Locate the dragon, and head in the opposite direction unless you have your dragon fighting license. If you are currently taking a dragon-fighting class, you can fight the dragon as a part of your final project as long as you are able to record it. Please attempt to fight the dragon in an area where no one will get hurt.

4. If you don’t have a dragon fighting license or learner’s permit, do not approach the dragon. It will not be friendly. Please let the professionals take care of it.

5. Head to the closest hiding place that is opposite of the dragon. An example of a good hiding place would be a cluster of trees. Make sure that you cannot be seen from above because dragons can fly. This means you will not be able to hide in a ditch or small hole.

6. Try to stay near a teacher or responsible adult as you head to a secure area. We will need to find out how many students are safe.

7. Once you are at a safe distance from the dragon and in an ideal hiding spot, feel free to watch the dragon fight from your hiding spot. Popcorn will not be provided.

8. Do not leave your hiding spot even if the dragon is defeated. Sometimes dragons will travel in groups. Remain hidden until the teacher you are with says it’s okay.

9. If the dragon flies towards you, remain as still and quiet as possible. Remain calm, and wait for the dragon to fly away.

Although this situation may seem unlikely, it’s important that we educate our students on what to do in even the most extreme and unrealistic emergencies. Your safety is our first priority.
