Powder Puff
It’s
Homecoming week and everyone is dressed up weird and no one is focusing
on school. Wednesday night is Powder puff football night. This is the
night almost the whole school is at Harman park and we all watch the
girls try to play football, minus the tackling. The whole school knows
that the seniors will probably win but another grade sometimes gives
them a run for their money.
So
onto the games. In the first game it was the freshman vs. the juniors.
The freshmen did quite well considering it was their first year. One
freshman said they had a lot of fun. However the juniors still triumphed
over the poor freshmen. The next game was the sophomores vs. the
seniors. The seniors were quite good this year, they were determined to
carry on the tradition of senior champions, and they did in this game,
taking out the sophomores.
The
next game was the losers game. The losers of the previous two games
played each other. This game was the sophmores vs. the freshmen. Well I
think we all could guess who won, and if you said sophomores then you
were correct.
Now
let’s look at the championship game between the seniors and the
juniors. This game got pretty intense, because the juniors beat the
senior class last year so the seniors were out for revenge. The first
half of the game went pretty well but no one scored. In the second half
however, the seniors got two touchdowns in a row making the score 8-0
(every touchdown was four points instead of six). The juniors tried
their best to get a score but the game ended and the seniors won,
carrying on the senior winning streak.
Freshmen Powderpuff Poll
As upperclassmen, you should know what Powderpuff is, whether or not you have gone to watch. For the new freshmen class, however, it might not be so obvious. More than 20 students in the Freshmen class have no previous connections to MVL and this brings up the question: Do you even know what powderpuff is?
After surveying the class, 48 ½ students out of 49 admitted that they do know the basic concept of powderpuff. The numbers were a little bit different, though, when asked which class they thought would win this year’s game. Less than half of the Freshman class actually chose themselves. A large group had a feeling that the Juniors would take the lead this year and very few believed the Sophomores would. Now that we know the results, do you think the Freshmen will change their opinions for next year?
