I love trying to do different accents. The first accent I've ever tried to do was New York. I learned how to do that accent  from my favorite movie called Newsies, and it's really fun to do. Here's a couple tips on how you can talk in a New York accent.
Speakers of this accent add letters to different words. Think about who your character is and how they would sound. Work on where to place your voice when doing this accent. For example, you want to find where it's comfortable for you to speak in this accent and what volume as well. Rolling your “R’s” can help in voice placement too. Don't try to over do it because that could be bad for your voice and won’t sound as good. Remember to practice.
Here's a few examples of words to say. Say “hey yous guys'' instead of saying “hey guys''. The letter “G” should be dropped when speaking words that end with it. For example they say “callin’' instead of “calling”. Also, they put the letter “R” at the end of words. For example, “mawnin’' instead of “morning”. Another example is “idear” instead of “idea”. Coffee is another word New York citizens use. Say “coffee” as “cahfee”. Here's a sentence to practice with the word coffee: “Do ya want a cuppa coffee afta dinna?” Make sure that when you use the letter “o” in words it sounds like “ah”.
You can learn by watching YouTube videos or through research. Depending on how serious you are, you can improve your skills by taking acting and voice lessons. You could also talk to a dialogue coach to help you with the accent. If you put your time and your effort into it, you’ll get better at it. Good luck!
