You’ve Been Pranked!
By Brianna
In the spirit of April Fools Day, the Desktop crew pranked the student body of MVL by printing several false reports in The Charger. We regret to inform you that all but one article was completely made up. The article, This Day in History, by Sofia Willizazums, contained bits of truth sprinkled amidst false reports of what happened years ago on this day in history.
These excerpts from Sofia’s article were actual events on April 1st.
- “Historically, April Fools’ has been a day to test the infinite boundaries of human stupidity and gullibility.”(and the Desktop crew done pranked you)
- “In 1748, the Ruins of Pompeii were discovered.” However, two survivors were not found, as the article reported.
- “In 1973, John Lennon & Yoko Ono founded a new country with no laws or boundaries, and called it Nutopia. Its’ national anthem: silence.” Perhaps they were able to farm “Strawberry Fields” forever.
- “In 2006, The Serious Organised Crime Agency, dubbed the 'British FBI', was created in the United Kingdom.” Yes, organised is spelled like that almost everywhere besides the USA and Canada.
The following parts of Sofia’s article were true pranks that ultimate older pranksters performed years ago.
- “In 1996, the Taco Bell Corporation announced it had bought the Liberty Bell and was renaming it the Taco Liberty Bell. Give me tacos or give me death!” People everywhere would definitely come running when they heard that dinner bell!
- “In 1980, BBC reported that the Big Ben would be going digital.” For the people who find analog clock time reading incredibly challenging.
- “In 1976, BBC Radio 2 reported that due to the rare astronomical alignment of Pluto behind Jupiter, the Earth's gravity would decrease. Listeners were told to jump in the air at 9:47 AM to feel as if they were floating. There were many confirmations of this feeling. One woman even said that she and her friends were lifted from their chairs and floated around the room together.”The gullible, gullible people we coexist with.
