Every year Student Council chooses one organization to send our mission offering money to. This year we have chosen to send it to “Grace—Hmong outreach in Vietnam” to support the miraculous opportunity WELS has to build and operate a theological training facility in Vietnam. After leaders of the Hmong Fellowship Church (HFC) in Vietnam found online sermons given by WELS pastor Bounkeo Lor back in 2011. The HFC then invited Lor to Vietnam to teach them more about the saving gospel. Since 2012, Lor has made over 25 trips to Vietnam and the Hmong people. The gospel's message of free grace brought peace to the Hmong people and the Vietnam government took interest.

"The Vietnamese government invited WELS to build a theological training facility in the capital city of Hanoi. This is an incredible, unprecedented opportunity for our synod. WELS is currently the only protestant church with official government permission to work with the Hmong in Vietnam. The Lord is opening a door to reach the more than two million Hmong people who live in Vietnam and the surrounding countries. However, this door can close at any time. Our WELS World Missions team is working quickly to ensure WELS is taking full advantage of the time the lord has provided."
Currently 84% of the $2 million goal has been raised and we want to due our part in helping out. Student Council has set it's own goal for the student body at $2,500. We were able to raise that much money last year and we hope to repeat it. To learn more about the Grace-Hmong Outreach, visit: https://wels.net/serving-others/missions/asia/vietnam/
"In the same way, the gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world-just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood God's grace." Colossians 1:6
