At MVL, almost all students participate in an extracurricular activity at school. But what about the students that do activities outside of our school? We never talk about them or give them the spotlight. So today I have decided to talk about special students Job and Thomas Wosmek who participate in Robotics competitions through St. Peter Area Robotics (SPAR).
When talking to the Wosmek boys about what a typical robotics year is like they gave me plenty of information. They said each year they are given a new goal by FIRST. FIRST is the organization that runs all robotics competitions. In the first few weeks, the team bands together, brainstorms ideas, and devises a plan. After everything is planned, the team puts to action in constructing their robot through plenty of trial and error. After weeks and weeks of constructing a unique robot, it'll be time to bring it to the first competition, which is a regional competition made up of other robotics groups around the area of Minnesota. If their robot does well in the competition they may get invited to the National Competition, the biggest robotics competition around!
MVL has a bunch of other students that do activities outside of school such as gymnastics or ballet, as well. Let us know if you'd be interested in hearing more about our talented students in activities outside MVL!
