Contruction in School by Talia Otto

Be prepared! Changes are happening to a school near you! It is proposed that, at this point in the year 2014, the MVL library will have had a makeover. Over the past few years there has been discussion regarding the use of the library. Within the past six months this discussion has been transformed into a reality as architects were consulted and plans were drawn up to remake the library into a more user-friendly, learning based environment. According to Mr. Plath, “We want to make this area more user friendly, more attractive and more functional to the needs of our students.”

After the project is finished, the library will be its own enclosed room in the school. Room 221 will no longer exist and, in it’s place will be more library space. As seen in fig. 1, the hallway from the purple lockers will be continuing behind the now-existing library desk to the back two classrooms with a wall and windows on the right side of the hall.

This new library space would include individual study desks, an additional number of computers, as well as group stations for studying together.  The walls would be repainted, flooring updated, and windows installed to complete this new room in MVL.

While all of this talk of change is exciting, keep in mind that all of these plans are still in process and are subject to change. It is the plan that this exciting project will be started as soon as school lets out for summer vacation and will be completed before the new school year of 2014.
