Looking into the Future by Gabrielle Miller and Andrew Kassulke

Your future is in your hands. Right now you are all on your way to making one of the biggest decisions of your life. What you decide at this moment could change everything. The question many of you are being asked right now is “Where are you going to college and what for?”. This might be scary for those who don’t know, but it could be exhilarating for those who do. Want to know what plans this year’s seniors have? We graphed the results of the majors and listed possible college and career choices.

Your major is a huge decision many will have to make some day. In the graph, we are able to see the percentage of the students who are currently planning on enrolling in some of the most common majors of 2013. The most popular major to be chosen by our seniors this year seems to be Education. Many students are also undecided at this point and we had a large group of miscellaneous majors this year, some of which include interior design, law enforcement, physical therapy, and architecture. This goes to show the uniqueness and individuality of the senior class.

Another big step to your future is choosing a college. Some students have already found the college that’s right for them, while others are still searching. We are very familiar with MLC, WLC, and BLC as students of MVL, but maybe we are not always aware of how many other colleges are out there. We received quite a few interesting responses to the potential college choices of our soon-to-be graduates. A few of these are Concordia-Mequon, Superior College, Johnson and Wales, Carleton, and St. Thomas. MSU seemed to be a very familiar and popular possible choice as well.
Where do these students hope to take these college majors and life decisions? Shelby Hammerschmidt wishes to live her life as a marine biologist while DeAndre Parker hopes to become a detective or FBI agent. Among the many aspiring teachers, veterinarians, and accountants, we also see Micah Holten, who wants to be the director of Parish Music and Chad Lease, who aspires to be an athletic trainer. JiWon Lim also has a dream to become an art director. We hope everyone finds their passion and that their dreams become a reality as they move on from high school and into college and from college into the rest of their lives. No matter what these seniors may do, God will guide them to use their gifts in the right way.
